The Greenwood Education Foundation has partnered with the student led group, Bring Change to Mind, to co-host a week of activities focused around mental health and wellness. The week's activities culminate with a community tailgate on October 11, 2024 at Greenwood Community High School. The tailgate will kick off at 5:30pm before the Greenwood varsity football game. Join us for food, games, and free prizes. Several local organizations whose mission is to promote mental and physical wellness will be attending to provide information on their services and resources. This event is free to the community. Tickets to enter the football game can be purchased at https://woodmenathletics.com/tickets
Suicide is the second leading cause of death for high school aged youth. Unfortunately, only half of children and adolescents with a mental health condition receive the treatment they need. Early mental health support can help a young person navigate the challenges that come with having a mental health condition. The goal of the tailgate is to bring awareness to the challenges young people face regarding mental health, destigmatize conversations around mental health and seeking support, promote awareness of 988, and highlight supportive local community resources aimed at supporting our youth.??
The Greenwood Education Foundation and Bring Change to Mind is committed to ensuring our young people know where to go to seek support. Through the support of these two organizations, representatives will be engaging the entire student body is a series of student-led activities leading up to the tailgate. The student athletes and the BC2M members will serve as Mental Health ambassadors for the week. We are proud to see our Greenwood students serve as advocates and leaders as they bring the message of hope and support to the entire student body.
Join us October 11th to show your support and help us Highlight Mental Health!
